Happy Heart Day

Since hubby/daddy was out of town again, we spent the afternoon with Nana & the kid's Great Grandparents. The love that they have for my children makes my heart happy & I am beyond thankful!

The kids with their Great Granny or "Great Great Great Granny" as Avery calls her. She is an amazing woman & still plays with the kids like she played with my siblings & me 30 years ago. LOVE her!

Modeling her Valentine skirt I made

Wyatt was standing there saying "cheeeeeese" just waiting for me to take his pic.

This shot warms my heart...every time I ask Avery to stand with Wyatt for a picture she puts her arm around him & kisses him...and he is still cheesing!

My Valentines!

Beautiful smile just like daddy!

Opening their loot

Notice Wy in the background with his crayons. He wasn't interested in anything else...just wanted to color

Valentine Crayons

Avery & I made heart shaped crayons out of old broken crayons. The teacher in me LOVES the ease of this project & the fact that it's a hands on lesson on recycling. :) I highly recommend this easy & fun project!

Step 1: Gather up some old crayons & a heart shaped muffin pan.

Step 2 {the most time consuming step}: Peel crayons & break into pieces small enough to fit into the hearts.
It took us a while to peel the crayons. Avery was very patient during this tedious step!

Step 3: Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until crayons have melted.

Step 4: Allow pan to completely cool & remove crayons carefully with butter knife.

Step 5: Enjoy you new {recycled} crayons!

All About Avery

While arriving at school yesterday, out of the blue, Avery says, "Jesus is in my heart! Is Jesus in your heart, mommy?" Wow! What amazing words to hear from your three year old! We have talked many times about Jesus being a part of our daily lives & living in our heart but I also credit St. John Early Childhood Center for her knowing her Lord & Savior! To God be the glory!

Something else she said this week... While pulling out of the garage a couple of days ago, she noticed how bright the sun was shining & said, "Mommy, why is it so bright & sunny today?" I said, "Well, that's what weather God decided to give us today. Isn't it pretty?" Avery then said, "It's too bright. I want him to put it away!" Oh my! The things she comes up with! Love that girl!

12 in '12

Wish this was my original idea, but I found it on several other blogs while trying to find a way to share my resolutions... {In no particular order.}

One. Read {and finish}The One Year Bible. I have had this book over a year now...

Two. Make more time EACH day to play with my precious children.

Three. Spend less time on Facebook & more time on my blog.

Four. Read more. I have started reading distant shores by kristin hannah.

Five. Pick back up where I left off on Couch to 5k & run a 5k sometime before June.

Six. Stress less about cleaning my floors. This has become an obsession...hands & knees scrubbing the tile. WHY? Maybe if I stop cleaning them constantly, I will have more time to play with my kiddos.

Seven. Have more patience & understanding for people in general.

Eight. Complain less & compliment more. This was my first resolution & I have done really well so far. :)

Nine. Take an online photography class & become more familiar with my camera & my new lens that I got for Christmas.

Ten. Pray more. The amount of blessings God has bestowed on me is amazing & I need to thank him even more often than I do.

Eleven.  Sew more. I have started making clothes for my little ones & very much enjoy it. I just need more time!

twelve. Throw out things that I {we} don't use & stay more organized so I don't have to spend a day {or two} just putting things away/back in their place.

So, there you have it! These will definitely be a challenge for me but I am totally up for it! What are your resolutions?

Happy New Year! May 2012 be a good one!
